Dear Gentlemen:

We would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to you for the Outreach Center's $10,000 gift in May 2007 to the United Way of New York City (UWNYC). This generous gift will ensure that the United Way can sustain its efforts in implementing our Community Action Strategy.

United Way is now focusing its resources on five core action areas: Homelessness Prevention; Education & Early Childhood Development; Access to Healthcare; Building Economic Independence and Strengthening NYC Nonprofits. The following outlines United Way's major program initiatives:

· Housing Help Program (Homelessness Prevention Action Area), provides short and long-term assistance to families facing eviction in the Mount Haven section of the Bronx. Legal and social service providers provide assistance to help stabilize families and establish a foundation for self-sufficiency.

· Safe Schools, Successful Students (Access to Health Care Action Area), administers a series of innovative and linked educational and mental health interventions and create safe and successful schools for 5,100 students enrolled in six middle schools in the Bronx.

· Quality New York (Education and Early Childhood Development Action Area), aims to strengthen the quality of early childhood education by increasing the number of accredited early education programs.

· NYCWorks (Building Economic Independence Action Area), an initiative of the New York City Council is administered by the United Way of New York City to provide job-specific educational services, and job readiness and placement programs to 10,000 adults and out-of-school youth.

· Nonprofit Leadership Development Institute (Strengthening New York City Nonprofits Action Area), provides training and education to a diverse group of nonprofit professionals to assume executive-level responsibilities in health and human service nonprofit organizations.

Your gift demonstrates your commitment and support of our work in helping thousands of New Yorkers have access to services that lay the groundwork for full, healthy and productive lives. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Outreach Center and informing you how your contribution is impacting the lives of thousands of New York City residents.
