Dear Friend:

On behalf of everyone at the Children's Health Fund, I would like to thank you and your colleagues at The Outreach Center for your generous donation of $1,000

Your gift will be put to work immediately supporting much-needed health care programs in economically fragile communities around the country. In 16 rural areas and cities served by CHF, committed medical providers are dedicating their professional lives to the care of the nation's most vulnerable children. Since 1987, The Children's Health Fund National Network has provided "medical homes" for the over 300,000 children, while advocating for guaranteed access to quality medical care for all children.

As we try to come to grips with and painful repercussions of the attacks of September 11th, CHF is redoubling our commitment to homeless and at-risk children. It is extremely important that children and families living in already medically underserved areas do not bear the residual brunt of the devastation, as resources are spread thin and redirected.

To supplement the comprehensive medical care that we provide through the New York and nationwide network of Children's Health Projects, CHF has created the Crisis Response Program, including a new mobile medical unit, to attend to the evolving mental health needs of children affected by the attacks. Enclosed is a recent article concerning this new program.

We are proud to welcome The Outreach Center as part of CHF's ongoing work. Together we can help make sure that children in our neediest rural and urban communities have access to the medical care they need.
