Donate A Car
When you're looking to donate an old car or truck, you likely have a long
list of potential charities to choose from. Unless you live a rural area or
very small town, you can likely donate a car to at least a half dozen
charitable or non-profit organizations that do car removals in your area.
There are several reasons that charitable car donations have become so
popular; the generosity of the American people, the amazing volume of junk
cars generated every year, and the desire to limit the amount of taxes we
pay.
The urge to donate a car to charity, as well as our love/attachment to cars,
are uniquely American traits. We love our cars, own more per capita than any
country, and we donate to charities more than any other nation (both per
capita and gross dollars).
The volume of cars that leave America's roads every year is astounding. Most
every adult in America has a car. The few who do not are statistically
offset by those owning multiple vehicles. The result is well over 100
million cars on the road at any given time, and millions being retired from
service every year. The volume is incredible, and car donation programs have
been making serious inroads into the car removal business for the last
decade.
Finally, it's un-American both to avoid taxes and to happily pay them. The
drive to offset tax bills with creative accounting and tax deductions is a
pursuit most Americans attack with gusto every April. The fact that
charitable donations result in an equal tax deduction has always helped
charities for obvious reasons.
The combination of Americans' charitable streak, love of cars, and desire to
minimize tax burdens has made it increasingly popular to donate a car to
charity. The trend is unlikely change in the foreseeable future.
