Car Donation
Car donations have become a revenue source for American charities that
rivals fancy balls, 5k fun runs, and charity auctions. It continues to grow
as charities and non-profits see what other are organizations are able to do
by pleading for and collecting old, so called, junk cars.
The first question to consider when deciding to go the car donation route,
versus trying to sell your car, is how your donation will benefit the
charity.
In my opinion, the best charities are the one who take car donations, fix
them up, and give them to hard working people who are unable to afford a
car. Most of us get attached to our cars, and when it's time for them to go,
it's somehow comforting to know that they carry on to help others.
Though I'm not saying anything bad about the car donation charities that
sell donated cars for scrap and use the money to help others, the few
hundred dollars they generate for scrap can't compare with what your car can
do for others if they can be fixed up and given to someone who has tried to
work without one.
Three hours a day changing buses, trains, and other public transportation,
or waking up several hours early everyday so that you can walk to the
closest job, are instantly eliminated if you have a reliable car.
While car donation is always an honorable thing, I believe that you should
at least consider local car donation charities that give both your car, and
your fellow human beings, a shot at a brighter future.
